Whether you've known me for years or we're just meeting for the first time, thank you for taking a moment to learn about this campaign. Lee County is home, and I'm running because I believe our neighborhoods, families, and small businesses deserve a Commissioner who listens first and serves with their whole heart.
DeMaria "Princess" Artis is a healthcare professional, small business owner, wife, and mom who has called Lee County home for the better part of a decade.
Raised in a military family, Princess grew up moving from place to place — learning early how to adapt, work hard, and find community wherever she landed. When she finally put down roots in Lee County, she found a place worth investing in for good.
She didn't set out to run for office. Members of her community asked her to — people who knew her, trusted her, and believed she'd actually listen. That's the kind of Commissioner she intends to be: present, prepared, adaptable, and accountable to the families who call District 4 home.
"I'm not running to tell Lee County what it needs. I'm running to ask — and then to fight for the answer."
Princess is running because she believes local government should work for the people who live here — not for political parties, insiders, or special interests. She filed and qualified as No Party Affiliation because she answers to Lee County voters, full stop.
I'm not walking into this race with a list of positions already decided. Before I tell District 4 what I'll fight for, I want to hear from District 4 first. Once I have a real sense of what this community wants and needs, I'll align my goals as Commissioner around that — and fight for it.
